• Every year on 22 December, India celebrates National Mathematics Day. The date marks the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, one of the greatest mathematicians in history.

• National Mathematics Day was first announced in 2012 by former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh to honour Srinivasa Ramanujan’s contribution to mathematics.

• Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu

• In 1918, Ramanujan was second Indian to get elected for Royal Society

• Assam has the Brahmaputra river and its tributary is the Kulsi river and in this river, for the first time in the world, the tagging of Ganges river dolphin was done through satellite.
